Why! Heartbreaking!

18 schoolgirls died in a massive fire that swept through a dormitory at Pitakiatwittaya School in the Wiang Pa Pao district of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand, where girls aged between 5 and 12 were sleeping at the Christian school for girls from poor hill tribe families.

18 schoolgirls aged 5 to 12 have died in a fire at a Pitakiatwittaya boarding School in the Wiang Pa Pao district of Chiang Rai, Thailand at around 11pm on Sunday.

Faulty fluorescent light on the ground floor may have been the cause. A hot fragment fell onto a pile of clothes and started the fire. Namae Patikiri, a 57-year-old member of the Hmong hill tribe, lost 6 grandchildren in the blaze. “5 of them had only moved here a year ago,” she said, crying. “The other one had only been here for two weeks.”
