6.4 magnitude earthquake shakes Taiwan
- Multiple buildings, including residential building which was home to 200 people have collapsed in the city of Tainan, a city of 2 million people in the south of the island, following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake.
- A 7.6-magnitude quake struck the island in September 1999 and killed around 2,400 people.
